Bryce Dallas Howard’s Weight – Look inside Her Struggles with Extra Pounds and Gaining Some on Purpose
Bryce Dallas Howard struggled with weight fluctuations for years, especially after her first pregnancy. However, she has since come to love and appreciate her body’s changes.
Bryce Dallas is undoubtedly a beautiful and talented red hair actress who has succeeded in the entertainment industry.
Unfortunately, she had to face criticism for her physical appearance for years. While other actors were commended for their talent, she was asked to lose weight.
Bryce has experienced extreme weight fluctuations over the years, starting with her 80-pound weight gain while giving birth to her son, Theo, in 2007.
Before Howard had her son, she accepted her weight gain and found it quite funny. However, the happiness turned into devastation in no time. Suddenly, she felt that everything was falling apart such as her breastfeeding, caring for her dog, and keeping her home in order.
The actress dealt with postpartum depression, which made every day worse and worse. However, she overcame it and became a second-time mom in 2012. Although she did gain weight again, she was able to lose it within a year.
When the cameras stop rolling, Bryce is a loving mother to two beautiful children: Theo and Beatrice, whom she shares with her husband, Seth Gabel.
Photos of her slowly trimming down surfaced on the internet while she propagated body image positivity and acceptance.
By the time she was cast for her role in “Black Mirror,” Bryce was fully equipped with the knowledge to accept herself, regardless of what size she was. So, she gained 30 pounds to fulfill her role as body image-obsessed Lacie.
Bryce decided to take on the challenge to show how her heroine was struggling to accept herself and love her body in the world of social media. Fortunately, the actress learned to appreciate and accept herself even more after the project, realizing that society’s standards can ruin a woman’s life.
According to Bryce, our society has a shared agreement of specific figures to call beautiful or admire, even if there is no substantive rationale.
It is a mere superficial belief, she claimed. Because of this perception, some women focus too much on their external appearance and lose sight of the more essential things in life.
The biggest lesson she learned from filming was that social media was a “cartoon universe” that showed a curated reality. Following her “Black Mirror” project, Bryce slowly lost the 30 pounds she gained.
Howard Was Told to Lose Weight
However, following her role in “Black Mirror,” Howard faced yet another challenge as she was pressured to lose weight for her part in “Jurassic World Dominion.”
“[I’ve] been asked not to use my natural body in cinema,” she said in an interview. “‘On the third movie, it was actually because there were so many women cast, it was something that Colin felt very strongly about in terms of protecting me…because the conversation came up again, ‘we need to ask Bryce to lose weight.'”
Fortunately, she could get stunts that would not have been possible had she been restricting her meals. “So I’m really thrilled [at] all the action I got to do, and I got to do it with my body. She was at her maximum strength, and I hope it is just yet another indication of what’s possible,” she added.
Howard Fans Flooded Social Media with Support
Following her interview, fans supported the actress and shared their sentiments online. One fan said that Howard’s weight gain was not noticeable and that she looked beautiful nonetheless.
Another fan argued that Howard was fit and simply had a bigger build, as every person has different sizes and shapes that fall within a healthy spectrum.
Bryce Dallas Howard is known for playing antagonist Victoria in the “Twilight” saga. She also had roles in “Spider-Man 3,” “Jurassic World,” and “The Help.”
